A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Jean A. Lockhart Ullman, 82, of Granville will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jean passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born in Montpelier, Ohio January 15, 1931 to the late Victor W. and Helen M. (Hager) Lockhart. A music major, Jean was a 1952 graduate of Denison University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
A creative and talented person, Jean taught piano and needlepoint for 29 years in Granville. She most enjoyed creating counted cross stitch angels and pressing flowers. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter DL, Monday Talks, Granville Twig, Granville Garden Club, Granville Town and Country and she treasured her summers at Spring Valley. She will lovingly be remembered as a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was a kind and compassionate person to all.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, William L. "Pete" Ullman, whom she married June 16, 1952; son and daughter-in-law, Tom Ullman and Carol Young of High Point, NC; daughters and son-in-law, Jenny Michael of Saratoga, CA and Laura and Mark Scheidt of Wheaton, IL; grandchildren and spouses, Beth and Kevin, Emily and Darren, Eric and Nichi, Thomas and his fiancAC. Courtney, and Scott and Anna; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jayden; and brother, Robert W. Lockhart and his partner Clarence Cameron of Madison, WI.
