Jerome Paul Klink Sr. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 in Columbus. Born in Canonsburg, PA, Jerry was the son of Helen and Fred Klink, and the second of six children. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Gail Bossert Klink; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Terry Mandel; daughter and son-in-law; Tracy and Scott Hill; daughter-in-law, Kim Klink-Frenton, and her husband, Greg Frenton; grandchildren Alex Klink and his fiancee, Miranda Hladik; Max Klink; Maggie Fuchs; Mike Mandel and his close friend, Theresa Wendell; Tom Mandel; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Jack Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Donna Klink; brother, Kent Klink; sister-in-law, Marti Klink; sister-in-law, Karen Klink; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Fred Klink and Manson Klink; and his son, Jerome Paul Klink, Jr. (Jay).
A graduate of Penn State University, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Jerry held numerous patents. He worked for Allegheny-Ludlum Steel, in Troy, NY; Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Anderson. SC, and Granville, OH; Superior Glass, in Bremen, OH; Johns Manville, in Toledo, OH; and finally for Fibertech, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, where he was hired to start the company.
In retirement, he and Gail traveled all over the world, either on long road trips or long cruises. They often wintered in Siesta Key, FL. Their Granville property was filled with trains, a bocce court, a pool, a pond, and a zip line. It was a favorite place for large gatherings, and church picnics. They moved in 2017, to Buckeye Lake, OH, where they enjoyed boating and watching the aquatic life from their living room couch.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, September 27, 2024 at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville, Ohio 43023.
A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church 110 W. Broadway, Granville, Ohio 43023 with Rev. Wendy McCormick officiating. Private burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
