A funeral service celebrating the life of JoAnn Black, age 76, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, at Newark Baptist Temple with Pastor Mark Falls officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 1, at Newark Baptist Temple, 81 Licking View Drive in Heath, and also from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
JoAnn was born April 16, 1947 in Newark, Ohio to the late Elmer Elwood and Helen Louise (Schmitt) Yeager. She passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital. JoAnn was employed with First Federal and Fiberglas Federal Credit Union where she was a teller and a loan officer.
JoAnn was a 46-year member of the Newark Baptist Temple. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and deer in her yard, and doting on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard W. Black, whom she married June 29, 1970; daughter, Lisa (Scott) Vitu of Newark; son, Joshua (Jennifer) Black of Newark; seven grandchildren, Joelle, Elise, and Edward Vitu, Brynlee, Piper, Peyton, and Tucker Black; brothers, Rodney Yeager of Utica and Dr. Kenneth (Donna) Yeager of Granville; sisters, Wanda (David) Clement of Heath and Donna (Johnie) Jardine of Newark; several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Vitu.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Newark Baptist Temple.
