Joann Morey

A graveside service celebrating the life of JoAnn M. Morey, 84, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Bruce Robinson as celebrant.

JoAnn died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Chestnut House in Newark. She was born in Shreveport, LA January 6, 1928 to the late Leah Blue and James Joy McClelland, Sr.

A competitive and accomplished athlete, JoAnn attended Drew Academy and went on to graduate from Indiana University with honors while participating in intercollegiate sports in both golf and swimming. Her love of sports continued throughout her life whether attending her children's events or playing golf and tennis in Granville. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Granville Town and Country. She will be remembered for her family commitment and time camping and traveling with her children.

Surviving are her husband, James H. Morey, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law,Tom and Vickie Morey of Fresno, CA; sons, James Morey, Jr. of Harrison Township, MI, and John Morey of Roswell, GA; daughter, Ann Morey of Mill Valley, CA; and seven grandchildren, Katherine, Nicholas, Devin, Jacob, Sarah, Rachel, and Angelique; and sisters, Patricia Berry of Owensboro, KY and Margaret Hammond of Mooresville, NC.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother, James Joy McClelland, Jr.
