A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John D, Crecca, Jr., 91, of Granville, at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 1, 2021 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Road, Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Granville with military honors rendered by the Licking County Veteran Alliance.
A retired chemical engineer with Owens Corning Fiberglas, John passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Middleton Senior Living in Granville. He was born in Quincy, Mass to the late John D. and Genevieve Crecca.
John earned his undergraduate degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he was enrolled in Army ROTC. He then served in Greenland during the Korean War. Upon return he completed his Masters in industrial engineering at Lehigh University and began work in Belle, WV at DuPont. John relocated to Granville when Owens Corning Technical Center opened in 1960. He was employed there for 26 years retiring in 1986 when he began a private consulting company.
A devoted family man, voracious reader, historian, and humorist John also enjoyed collecting toy soldiers, athletics, learned discourse, Beethoven, and socializing. He was a member of St. Edwards, Granville Sertoma, Granville Athletics Boosters, and the Granville High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Jodie; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Michele Crecca; John David and Anne Crecca; Thomas and Pamela Crecca; grandchildren Elizabeth Crecca, John (JD) Crecca, Anthony Crecca, Mary (Crecca) Peede, and Quon Peede; and two greatgrandchildren Amethyst and Saphira Peede.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Crecca.
