John died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Kendal at Granville. He was born in Columbus, a fourth generation Columbusite, March 16, 1926 to the late Caroline Rutherford and John B. Joyce, Sr.
A graduate of Bexley High School, John served in the U. S. Army Air Force during WWII. After returning home, he graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Agriculture in Animal Husbandry. He then embarked on a 63-year career in the financial services industry as a stockbroker and financial advisor, the last 37 years with Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc.
John's membership in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, The Columbus Club, Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club, The Review Club, The Tickin' T's of Central Ohio, and The Uwharrie Point Cigar Club gave him enormous pleasure from the associations he enjoyed there. He also gained great solace and joy from tinkering on his beloved Model T cars, along with being a voracious reader and history buff. Most of all, John loved being with his family wherever they gathered, but especially in the outdoors, tromping through the woods of Hocking County along with hunting, hiking, and bird watching.
