John P. Steele

A memorial gathering celebrating the life of John Patrick "Pat" Steele, 57, of Granville will be held October 12, 2013 from 2 - 4 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., in Granville . Private burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery.

After a strong fight against cancer, John passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1956 in Newark to the late Paul Raymond Steele and the late Mary Lue (Williams) Wolfe.

John was a 1974 Granville High School graduate. He worked in food service with Sodexo at Denison University for 32 years. He was an avid reader and loved gardening, traveling, baking, and walking the bike path with his dog. He will be fondly remembered for his plethora of baked goods and other divine foods he gifted for the holidays.

Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula Gayle and Dave Nicholas of Annandale, VA, and Lisa Kay and Mike Rickards of Newark; brothers, Jeffrey Lee Steele and Michael Ray Steele; nieces and nephews, Heather, Megan, James, Andrew, Nikki, Jonathan, and Emily; great-nephews, Joey, Raven, and Ryder; and uncles and aunt, Harvey and Wanda Williams of Heath, and Leland Williams of Allen Park, Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Kristle and Don Glover; and step-father, Bradley E. Wolfe.
