A graveside service for John J. Yoho, 75, of Granville, was held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. Full military honors were provided by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Mr. Yoho, a United States Air Force veteran, passed away March 29, 2007, at Licking Memorial Hospital with his children by his side. He was born May 18, 1931, in Nobel county, to the late Homer and Alberta (George) Yoho.
Mr. Yoho retired from the Air Force in 1977 after 28 years of service. While in the Air Force, he served as Chief Air/Radar Control Specialist for Aerospace Control and Warning Systems. He served in Korea and completed two tours of duty in Viet Nam. For his service, he was awarded several medals and honors for distinctive accomplishments, outstanding professional skill, knowledge, and ability to coordinate airspace matters. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the State of Ohio Veterans Jobs and Family Services and retired in 1989.
Mr. Yoho was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and Aladdin Shrine.
Full of heart and determination, John helped several people throughout his lifetime. He greatly loved his family, friends, country, and life.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John Eric and Megan Yoho of Heath; daughters and son-in-law, Vonnie and Mark Nutter of Newark, Patty Simpson of Granville, and Vicki Yoho of Virginia Beach, Va.; 7 grandchildren Stephanie, Jacob and Amie Nutter of Newark, Nickie and Cory Simpson of Granville, and Kyle and Kaden Yoho of Heath; sisters, Wilmadean Reed of Cumberland and Louise Rucker of Stockport; and one brother, George Louis Yoho of Charlestown.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Yoho and sisters; Nola Yoho and Evelyn George. .
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville.
