Joseph E. Prusaczyk

d. June 8, 2022

Newark

A Funeral Mass will be held for Joseph E. Prusaczyk, Ph.D., of Newark, at 10:00 A.M. June 22, 2022 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.

A senior research chemist, Joe passed away at the age of 78 on June 8, 2022 at Altercare Newark North after a courageous eight year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Thomas and Helen Prusaczyk.

With an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Dayton, Joe furthered his education at Case Western Reserve University where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Physical Chemistry. He then did additional postdoctoral studies at the University of Florida, University of Maryland, and Florida State University.  His passion for research and development and his hands on approach lead him to positions with Owens Corning Technical Center, Georgia Pacific, and Capital Resin Corporation where he developed specialty resins. Upon his retirement he continued as a consultant for chemical applications within the manufacturing industry.

A member of St. Edward’s Church, Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10876. He enjoyed reading, anything sci-fi, and had an additional passion for building. He often thought he should have been an architect and building became his hobby. Above everything was Joe’s family. He was a loyal, loving, and dedicated husband and father.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Virginia; daughter, Deborah Prusaczyk; and canine pal, Henry.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
