Karen H. Berdan

A memorial gathering will be held from 4-6 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville Ohio to celebrate the life of Karen Berdan.  She was born July 15, 1953 in St. Louis, MO to the late John Hexem and Rosemarie Francis. Karen married Clarke in California on June 27, 1976. The couple met as students at the University of California, Berkeley. Karen passed away from cancer on November 9, 2024, while surrounded by family.

Karen owned the Granville Vision Center and practiced optometry for many years. Every year she enjoyed providing school vision screenings for kindergarten students in the area. She also supported many Granville Rotary functions.

Her husband, Clarke, survives her. She is also survived by her daughters Louise (Craig Chan), Kristi (Collin Masters), and Chloe (Andy Plummer).  Also living are sisters Christine (Mark Alper) and Linda (Jim White), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Six grandchildren whom she adored survive: Piper, Finn, Paige, Carter, Lilia, and Sophie.  They gave her sweet memories.
