Kathleen M. Hankinson

A memorial service for Kathleen "Kate" (Vorhees) Hankinson, 91, of Granville will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 26, 2015 at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior the service.

Kate died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at her home. She was born in Gibisonville, OH to the late Minnie Marie (Zeigler) and Sherman Monroe Vorhees.

Kate grew up in Gibisonville, Ohio. It wasn't until after marrying the love of her life, Harold D. Hankinson, on Dec. 27, 1996, she resided in Granville. A homemaker most of her life, Kate loved to clean. Taking care of her home and family was most important. She and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the states, particularly Amish country. She delighted in taking photographs and was very much an animal lover. During the summer, much of her time was spent at National Trail Raceway watching a nephew drag car race and often followed his racing around the country. Kate will be remembered as a loving and kind person who always put others first.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kathy Meyer of Rockbridge, OH; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Nita Bailey of Rockbridge, OH.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son; one daughter; two sisters; and one brother.
