A memorial service for Kathleen J. Rowland, of Granville, was held at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service was held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Mrs. Rowland died April 1, 2007 at The Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born in Caldwell, Ohio to the late Pearl and Edna (Pryor) Schroats.

Kathleen attended The Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.  She enjoyed a 39 year career teaching in Jacksontown and Newark City Schools.

Mrs. Rowland was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was active in the Tulip Circle and United Methodist Women, a member and Past President of the Research Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Fortnightly Travelers Club, a member of Winter Picnic, Monday Talks, Coterie Club, Licking County Retired Teachers, O.S.U. Alumni Association, and several card clubs.

An avid O.S.U. football fan, Kathleen also enjoyed traveling and reading.

Surviving are her daughter, Martha Rowland of Granville; one niece and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by one brother, Richard P. Schroats.

The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville.
