A funeral service celebrating the life of Kathryn D. Dunlap, 85, of Granville will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Stephen J. Cramer and Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Kathryn died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Kendal at Granville. She was born June 28, 1927 in Granville Township to the late Charles E. and Irene (Dumbauld) Daniels.
A 1945 graduate of Granville High School, Kathryn was employed by Ohio Power from 1945-1952 and at Denison University from 1950-1954 as secretary to The Dean of Men. She retired from the James Store in 2000 where she had been the bookkeeper since 1983.
A member of Centenary United Methodist Church for over 66 years, Kathryn served on the Altar Guild, was a member of Morning Glory Circle, and sang in the church choir. She was also a long-time member of the Beta Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority in which she held her sorority sisters dear to her heart. An award-winning seamstress, Kathryn won several blue ribbons at the Ohio State Fair in the late 70's.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Douglas Barno of Granville; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and June Daniels of Newark; grandchildren and their spouses, Esther and Eric Murray of Springfield, Joseph Levingston of Jackson, and Abigail and Jesse Dobbie of Beverly Hills, CA; and great grandson, Titus Murray.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Dunlap, who died May 26, 1982 and one brother, Charles Leland Daniels.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
