Leroy Allen Bowman, age 86, of Granville, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). He was born February 24, 1938 in Utica, Ohio to the late Howard Leslie and Illa Flo (Dixon) Bowman.
A 1956 graduate of Granville High School, Leroy served in the Ohio National Guard from 1956-62. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas. He was a member of the Church of St. Edward the Confessor in Granville and was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Leroy was very involved in the Granville community as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and as a volunteer for 23 years with the Granville High School football program taking care of the football equipment. He was a member of the Blue Ace G Club. Leroy was also a volunteer with the Granville Township Fire Department. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, OSU football, and Granville football.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Barbara Ann (Fear) Bowman, whom he married June 18, 1966; five children, Andrea (Gary) Peters of Copalis Beach, Washington, Theresa (Damon) DiRoma of Newark, Thomas (Jennifer) Bowman of Granville, Brett Bowman of Newark, and Jenny Bowman of Granville; eight grandchildren, Laurel, Gabe, Lea, Katarina, Cooper, Mairi, Gwendolyn, and Cavero; five great-grandchildren, Oliver, Callum, Nehemiah, Kinsley, and Daisy Mae; a brother, Leslie (Barb) Bowman of Newark; a sister, Linda (Jerry) Anderson of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Terry Bowman and Joy Bowman; and a halfbrother, Bannie Bowman.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 South Prospect Street in Granville. A Knights of Columbus service will be observed at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor. Inurnment will follow in Wilson Cemetery where Military Honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
