Lois, a direct descendent of the colonizers of Granville, was born on September 8, 1910 to the late Harry and Maude Strickler.
A 1928 graduate from Granville High school, she remained involved with education and children throughout her life. She frequently volunteered and read to children in the elementary school and became known as Grandma Pinkerton to many. In 1992 she was awarded the "Service to Mankind" award by the Granville Sertoma Club.
She selflessly devoted her life to others and as a well-read devout Christian; her life was a manifestation of her religious beliefs. After moving to Florida she enjoyed the fellowship of new her friends at the Lemon Bay Church of Christ.
Among her numerous talents, many will remember her baking skills. During the years she worked with her sister at the Evergreens Restaurant, she baked over ten thousand Red Velvet Cakes. In 2000 she moved to Englewood Florida to live with her daughter Sue and son-in-law Jim Rogers. Her sons Ed and wife Pam along with Carl and wife Betty also live in the Englewood areas. It was an ideal move for her to be in a warmer climate near her children.
Surviving are daughter Sue Rogers and sons Ed, Carl in Florida and Richard and Monique of Granville; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her loving husband Howard in 1959, sisters, Grace Merrimen and Doris Stemen in 2003, brother Stuart Strickler and infant granddaughter.
