A graveside service for Louis Edward Wensloff, 84, of Granville, will be held at a later date at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury, Indiana with the Rev. Linford Martin officiating.
Louis passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Heath Nursing and Convalescent Center. He was born July 9, 1925 in Long Praire, Minnesota to the late Mary (Schroeder) and Oscar Wensloff.
Louis was a very dedicated and proud employee, serving 38 years, at Children's Hospital in Columbus. His expertise as a histology technician brought him to Columbus from Battle Creek, Michigan in 1956. Louis loved classical music, gardening, and most of all, his family. He was everybody's friend. Louis was a graduate of Hastings High School where he reigned as a champion chess player.
Surviving are his wife, of 50 years, Connie J. (Saxton) Wensloff of Granville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Gerri Wensloff of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Susan, Christina, Kelly, Katie, and Jamie; great grandchildren, Abby, Alex, and Xavier; brother, Jerry Wensloff; sisters, Marilyn Barrett, Catherine Barry,and Caroline LaPeyre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Arrangements are in the care of McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME in Granville. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at the Heath Healthcare Center, in Unit One, for their excellent care and support during Louis' illness.
