A private graveside service will be held for Lyman P. "Bill" Collins, Jr., 92, of Granville.
Mr. Collins, partner of Madison-Collins Insurance Company, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. He was born July 27, 1919 in Garden City, NY to the late Marion Roberts and Lyman P. Collins, Sr.
A WWII veteran, Mr. Collins served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He received his B.A. and Masters Degree in History at The Ohio State University. An avid reader, Bill dedicated his life to learning. He was former member of the Granville Rotary, Granville School Board, Granville Town & Country, and Spring Valley Tennis and Swim Club. He will be remembered by many as a very fair, well-respected, gracious gentleman who had a great sense of humor and a tremendous love for animals.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert P. and Linda S. Collins of Lincoln, CA, Richard F. and Sue A. Collins of Pine Island, FL, and Gregg T. and Linda D. Collins of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Ray Hernandez, Christopher Collins, Jason and Ting-Ting Collins, Joshua, Justin, and Jamie Collins; great grandchildren, Kendall, Tyler, and Alexis; and sister, Ty Buffington of Rye, NH.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn W. Collins, who died June 14, 2005.
