M. Irene Fay

A funeral service celebrating the life of Margaret Irene Fay, 89, of Heath, formerly of Delaware, Ohio, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Heath United Methodist Church, 1149 Hebron Rd., Heath with Pastor Jeff Belt as celebrant. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Irene passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newark. She was born August 1, 1925 in Condit, Ohio to the late Norman D. and Beatrice (Carpenter) Barcus.

A 1943 graduate of Sunbury High School, Irene retired in 1988 from Denison University where she was a secretary in the Registrar's Office. She was a member of Heath United Methodist Church where she was engaged with the Ruth Circle of United Methodist Women. She was also a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Delaware.

Irene will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose central purpose in life was church and family. She was a giving person considerate of others' needs before her own. Her wit and streak of orneriness will long be cherished.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Earl William "Bill" and Kris Fay of Cleveland Heights and Carolyn and Stephen Cramer of Gahanna; grandchildren, Regina (David) Schwaderer, Stephen Cramer, Jr., and Katherine Fay; great grandchildren, Tiffany, David, and Austin Schwaderer and Gavin Cramer; and sister, Jean Klick of Delaware.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, George Meade Fay who died May 30, 1989, son, Robert E. Fay who died in 1993; and three brothers, L.G., Arthur M., and Donald C. Barcus.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. at HEATH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
