Marguerite M French

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 for Marguerite M. French, 94, of Granville, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Rev. Duane Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the McPeek- Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville.

Marguerite died Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Autumn Health Care in Newark. She was born August 8, 1916 in Almond, New York to the late Percy A. and Clara (Regetz) Nickerson.

A graduate of Beaver College, Marguerite was employed as a nurse by the Granville Medical Center and Denison University where she retired in 1993. She was known as the "social nurse" for her care and length of time spent with patients.

Marguerite enjoyed her annual trips with family and friends back to New York and the Adirondacks. She also enjoyed raising sheep, golfing in the Granville Women's Golf League, playing Bridge, and volunteering at the H.D. Robinson Granville Life-Style Museum. She was a sports fan and great Buckeye fan.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jan French of Granville; grandchildren, Chad (Renae) French, Amy (Dan) Dagois, and Abbie French; great-grandchildren, Makenna and Lexi French and Madison, Katie, and Noah Dagois; daughter-in-law, Jan French; sister-in-law, June Nickerson; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. French who died May 5, 1978; son, Rudy who died April 12, 2009; brother, Dr. Irving A. Nickerson, and sister, Grace Kerchner.
