Martha Warfel Ryan June 20, 1917 - Nov. 7, 2006

A memorial service for Martha Warfel Ryan, 89, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Newark, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Granville with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Newark. Mrs. Ryan, who retired in 1979 as a bookkeeper for the Granville Letter Shop, died Nov. 7, 2006, in Indianapolis. She was born June 20, 1917, in Muskingum Co., to the late Blanch (Conger) and Bernard Warfel. A 1935 graduate of Hanover High School, Mrs. Ryan was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a former volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Richard Lyle of Indianapolis; son, Richard Ryan of Riverdale, Ga.; sisters Mary Askins of Sebastian, Fla., and Darlene Garvin of Newark; and sister-in-law, Irene Warfel of Newark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lester C. Ryan, who died June 3, 2004, and one daughter.
