Mary Genevieve Hauser Bingham born September 18, 1938), a proud, laughing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and cousin, died peacefully on March 21, 2013, in the company of her family.
Daughter of Eunice and Charles Hauser, MD, Mary grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her siblings, Eunice Abel and Craig Hauser. Hillsdale High School in Cincinnati and Denison University, from which she graduated in 1960, followed. Mary was the fifth of six generations at Denison, and a third generation Kappa Alpha Theta (Beta Tau), a membership which she supported throughout her life.
Mary met her surviving husband of 51 years, David "Harkey" Bingham, at Denison and their journey continued in Saginaw, Michigan, where they forged a life of new friends and family. Mary was a devoted mother of David Jr., Marty and Betsey and valued time spent with her children's spouses (Pirrie and Ron) and her five grandchildren, Wesley, Johnny, Benjamin, Shepard, and William.
Mary appreciated time spent with friends from her seasons spent on the Au Sable River, Harbor Springs and Pte. au Baril, as well as Granville, Ohio, where Theta lunches, Sunday quizzes and weekday coffee were important to her life. She loved to travel the globe, play tennis, ski and knit, but most of all, she loved being a grateful friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.
The family will remember Mary through a private gathering. Those wishing to help commemorate her life may make a donation to the Beta Tau chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta (FCB 200 N. Mulberry, Granville OH, 43023, attn.: Jane Wilkins), The Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark OH 43058-9909, in appreciation of the care given by Hospice of Central Ohio, or to the Association for Frontotemporal Disorder (www.theaftd.org), to honor her late son David.
