Mary Frances Dixon

A funeral service for Mary F. Dixon, 80, of Granville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with Major Diana DeMichael officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Mary died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Newark Healthcare Centre with family at her side. She was born in Nov. 14, 1931 to the late Paul and Bertha (Ellis) Walters.

A life-long resident of Granville, Mary retired in 1970 from Denison University working in the Student Union as the main cook and supervisor. She was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking but most of all, cherished family gatherings.

Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Wanda Dixon of Newark, and Jackie and Stephen Henry of Newark; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan Dixon of Heath, Jerry and Cathy Dixon of Heath, Carl Allen and Linda Dixon of Alexandria, Douglas and Kay Dixon of Middleport, and Raymond and Annette Dixon of Watertown, MA; 27 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lina Walters of Fredericksburg, VA and Gladys Walters of Heath; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Carl Dixon, who passed away August 20, 2008, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Bobby Foust; sister, Donna Milligan; and two brothers, Raymond and Perry Walters.
