Mary Lisa Thomas

A funeral service for Mary Lisa Thomas, 53, of Granville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hudson, Ohio.

Lisa passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at home with her family at her side. She was born April 5, 1956 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Frances A. (McCauliffe) Manley and John J. Manley of DePere, Wisconsin.

A graduate of Hudson High School, Lisa furthered her education at The Ohio State University majoring in French and Education. She was an educator for 21 years and most recently taught fifth grade at John Clem Elementary in Newark.

In addition to her love of teaching, Lisa enjoyed living an active life participating in biking, kayaking, and running. She was an avid reader, had an eclectic taste of music, and loved the French and Irish cultures. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and will fondly be remembered for her love of children and the numerous friends she enjoyed.

In addition to her father, surviving are her husband Al Thomas; daughters, Christen and Angela Black of Granville; brothers, John F. Manley and Timothy E. Manley both of Hudson, Ohio; sisters, Moira Manley of Granville and Deborah Manley of Santa Rosa, California; and step-daughter, Tanisha Thomas of Columbus, Ohio.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME in Granville and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
