Mary "Emily" Saumenig

Mary Emily Saumenig, 89, of Whitehall, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Pataskala Oaks Care Center. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Fred and Anna Saumenig.

Emily was the caretaker of her family and affectionately called Mimi. She was a graduate of Withrow High School and attended the University of Cincinnati, Conservatory of Music. The arts were an important part of her life whether it be classical music, oil painting, or as the proprietor of her art store in Urbana.

A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Emily was also a life member of D.A.R., and former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana. She had a deep love of family and enjoyed Sunday rides to Buckeye Lake.

Surviving are her nephew and his wife, Robert and Kathy Kiebel; great nephew and his wife, Gus and Katie Kiebel; great niece and her husband, Annie and James McClain; and great great nephew, Griffey L. McClain.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her brother, Jennings and sister, Julia.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Dale Cemetery in Urbana with Rev. William L. Arnold as celebrant.
