Matthew "Matt" G. Nemec

We are deeply saddened to announce that on Monday, October 21st, Matthew “Matt” Gregory Nemec passed away. Born September 3rd of 1970 at the Ohio State University Hospital. He grew up in Michigan and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, he went on to continue his education at Loyola University, graduating with a master’s degree in counseling. A proud Buckeye, he went on to have a career in Information Technologies with the aviation company, Netjets, where he worked for 10+ years. More than just a baseball fan, he was an expert on any topic or strategy between the two white painted lines. He loved to travel and learn new things about the people and places he visited. On September 18th of 1999 he married Amy Clark Nemec and they had two children, Emily Elizabeth and Andrew David in 2001 and 2003, respectively. He and Amy then moved to Granville to raise their children, becoming involved in the community in many different ways before her passing in 2016. He then met and fell in love with Lori Dupler, and on December 31st of 2023 he asked her to marry him. He is proceeded in death by his wife Amy and is survived  by his two children, Emily and Andrew, his mother Karen Wahl, his fiancé Lori Dupler, and many family and friends who knew and loved him. Visitation and a service honoring his life will be held at the McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home in Granville on Sunday October 27th. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm with the service led by Pastor Kevin Koske starting immediately following the visitation.
