A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael J. Smiley, 41, of Newark will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark-Granville Road in Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Pataskala.
Michael, a former LICCO Inc. employee, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 27, 1973 in Columbus, Ohio to Michael J. Smiley and Chris (Reyna) Carter.
A huge enthusiast of the O.S.U. Buckeyes, Michael also enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, music, and dancing. His beautiful blue eyes, kind heart, and ornery smile warmed the hearts of many. He leaves behind the gift of treasured memories and will never be forgotten.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving dad, Gary Carter of Pataskala; brother, Todd Carter (Adrienne) of Pataskala; nieces, Arianna and Alexianna Carter, both of Pataskala, numerous loving aunts and uncles, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 S. Prospect St., in Granville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Center, P.O. Box 221, Granville, Ohio 43023.
