A private gathering will be held at a future date at Dawes Arboretum for Montel Vernon Pursley, 80, of Granville.
Mr. Pursley died July 3, 2007, at Kendal at Granville. He was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Irvington, N.J., to the late George W. and Edith (Anderson) Pursley.
Mr. Pursley received a Master's in Electrical Engineering in 1967 from the Newark College of Engineering, presently known as New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Montel worked at Bell Laboratories, Telcordia, and AT&T between the years of 1953 -1995 where most of his career was spent in applications programming.
During World War II, Mr. Pursley served as a Warrant Officer-Radio Operator with the United States Maritime Service from 1944 to 1947 and in the U.S. Army as a Radio Maintenance Sergeant during the Korean War from 1950 to1953..
Surviving are his wife, Barbara S. Pursley of Granville; daughter and son-in-law, Jocelyn and Lance McDaniel of Alexandria; brother and sister-in-law, George Walter and Ella Pursley of Ft. Myers, Fl.; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Vincent Lamanna of Ft. Myers, Fl.;sister-in-law, Diane Sloane and her husband Michael of Allamuchy,NJ and nephews, Daniel Pursley of Key Biscayne, Fl., David Pursley of Redwood City, CA and Gregory Sloane of Kings Beach, CA.
