Muriel Eileen Harriott of Granville passed away March 15, 2016 while under the care of the Central Ohio Hospice, at Kendal of Granville.
Muriel was born on July 15, 1932 in London, England, the daughter of the late William and Ruby Holness. Muriel became a naturalized United States Citizen in June, 1957. She graduated from high school in Aruba, and attended college at the University of Texas.
Muriel and her family were long-time residents of Granville. She was an active member of many area clubs and organizations, including the Granville Music Club; Winter Picnic Club; Girl Scouts; and the Granville Thrift Shop. She loved to play the piano, and was an avid walker in the Village and beyond. Muriel and her family maintained a second home in Naples, Florida, where they often spent much of the winter. She enjoyed many trips to Great Britain and Wales to visit her brother and parents.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Harriott; her son Steven of Baltimore, Maryland and her daughter Susan of Heath, Ohio; and her grandchildren Joseph, Allison, Sondra, Elizabeth, Nick, Jenny, William, and Jane, as well as five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Colin, who resides in Wales.
A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. The McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home of Granville is assisting the family with arrangements. www.mcpeekhoekstra.com
