Nancy Margaretta Ferguson Brédé, age 94, formerly of Granville, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, in Springfield, with her loving family by her side. She was born January 8, 1929, in Newark, Ohio.
Nancy earned her BA from The Ohio State University. She was an elementary school teacher in Newark, Ohio and later taught pre-school and special education to youth, while assisting her daughters with their education. Nancy was a member of Monday Talks and a 75-year member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She served as President Emerita Residents’ Council in the Springfield, Ohio Masonic Community.
Nancy enjoyed eating lunch/dinner out, playing bridge, cooking, trying new recipes, listening to music and the news, reading, taking rides in the car, gardening, making cards, volunteering, her dogs and being involved with Masonic activities. Nancy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Nanette B. Brédé, Margaretta B. (F. John) Mathis, Jeanette F. Brédé; niece, Sarah Sherman Andrews; niece, Mary Sherman Raabe; and, nephew, David Sherman.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Adelia Nichols Ferguson and Donald Levi Ferguson; husband, Luther E. “Bud” Brédé, whom she married on August 25, 1951; daughters, Antoinette Brédé and Katherine T. Brédé; sisters and brothers-in-law, Harriet (Roger) Sherman and Jane (Jack) Sparks.
Private graveside services were held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to a cause of your choice pertaining to children, education, and/or animals in memory of Nancy F. Brédé.
