A funeral service celebrating the life of Nathan D. Richeson, 29, of Granville, will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Swasey Chapel at Denison University with full military honors. Gary Lawrence will preside as celebrant.
Nathan, a Captain in the Ohio Air National Guard, 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacher, died Friday, August 29, 2014 as result of a roadside incident. He was born Sept 20, 1984 in Delaware, OH to Douglas and Cathy (Freundlich) Richeson of Granville.
Prior graduating from Granville High School in 2003, Nathan enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard. He entered as crew chief for a refueler and soon thereafter, attended Ohio University and received his B.A. in Aviation Science. His passion for flying began at a very young age during which he was a member of the Radio Controlled Planes and Helicopters Club, until the age of 16, when he began private flying lessons. A motivated, hard-working individual, Nathan was first in his class in flight school in Columbus, Mississippi, earning him the Top Gun and Eagle Award. During his military career, he had served in several tours including Qatar, Iraq, Italy, Turkey, and Libya.
But Nathan truly loved nothing more than being at home with the love of his life, Alyssa, and their families and friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart and inspiring work ethic. He had numerous interests including playing the bass guitar, camping, four-wheeling, motorcycles, and cars.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Alyssa Richeson of Granville; brother, Joel (Anna) Richeson of Ann Arbor, MI; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rick and Linda Lynch of Granville; sister-in-law, Courtney (Tarn) Jones of Ashburn, VA; maternal grandmother, Connie Freundlich of Bexley; and nieces and nephews, Ben and Charlotte Richeson, and Hannah and Logan Jones.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 P.M. prior the service at Swasey Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com. Contributions in Nathan's memory may be made to your charity of choice.
