Nellene Isabelle (Staub) Legg was born October 26, 1921 in Inwood, West Virginia, and passed away May 29, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. She was the youngest daughter of Charles H. and Love Lee (Bender) Staub, and a direct descendant of the founder of the first West Virginia settlement- Colonel Morgan Morgan. She married James H. Legg, Sr. in 1943 who preceded her in death as did sisters, Donna Lee Shirley and Arlene Heflin; brother, Charles Staub, Jr.; grandson, Jonathan David Losh and daughter-in-law, Susan Jane Legg. Surviving are her son, James, Jr. (Gail); daughter, Kandis Lee (David) Losh, granddaughter, Renee Lynette (Eric) Guerin; grandchildren, Christoper James (Misty) and Benjamin Lee (Melissa); great-granddaughters, Amanda Jane-Rose, Isabelle Nicole Guerin, Arawyn Maelee Losh and great-grandson, Gabrielle Jonathan Losh.
Always active in her church and strong in her faith beginning at the church her family began, Inwood United Methodist Church, she was an associate member of Centenary United Methodist in Granville at her death. Active in 4-H and the recipient of many awards, Nellene was honored at the National 4-H Exhibition in Chicago, Illinois; one of four selected to represent West Virginia at the National 4-H Camp in Washington D.C., and was a lifetime member of the West Virginia All-Stars.
Nellene was a graduate of Shepherd College (today known as Shepherd University) in Sheperdstown, West Virginia with a B.S. degree in multiple disciplines- home economics, biology, and sociology. She was a member of the Acapella Choir, Phi Chi, Kappa Delta Psi, and was selected to the Who's Who on College and University Campuses in 1942 and 1943 while attending Shepherd College.
A servant partner of her husband who entered the ministry in 1959, they served churches in Virginia and Ohio including Highwater Congregational Church where she was a member. Her husband's ministry included service as an officer at United Theological Seminary (Dayton) and Chicago Theological Seminary. During their years in Dayton, she was recognized for outstanding service as Children's Librarian for the Montgomery County Public Library System.

A celebration of life service will be held June 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist, 102 E. Broadway, Granville. Light refreshments will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity or Hospice of Central Ohio Foundation.
