Norma Jean (Lesley) Jordan, age 94, a Granville resident for many years, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2024 at the Inn at SharonBrooke. Norma was born December 31, 1929 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Renfro and Edythe Leatrice (Hildreth) Lesley.
A proud graduate of the University of Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Norma was a teacher at McGuffey Elementary School in Newark for 15 years. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Moundbuilders Country Club in Newark and The Meadows in Sarasota, Florida where she and her husband wintered for many years. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Denison University.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Elise (Jim) MacPhee of Newark; son, John R. Jordan of Corbett, Oregon; grandchildren, Katie (Paul) Swartz of Heath and Allie (Nick) LaForce of Granville; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jaxon and Jaycee Swartz, and Meredith and Isabelle LaForce; a brother, Jack (Mary) Lesley of Bay City, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Kirk A. Jordan in 2014; and by a son, Kirk “Bubba” Jordan, Jr. in 1981.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Granville Public Library, 217 E. Broadway, Granville, OH 43023 or St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326 indicating Norma’s name and address.
Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, where Norma will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.
