Patricia Stambaugh Cavanaugh, a fine artist, trained vocalist, and skilled horsewoman and mariner, passed away May 7, 2021, in Newark, Ohio, at the age of 96. She was born in Fulton, Kentucky, to the late Clem and Beulah Stambaugh.
Pat attended Stephens College and the Cleveland Institute of Art. After she married her childhood sweetheart, John Cavanaugh, they moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he got his DMD and she worked for the Kentucky Crippled Children’s Association. In 1958, they moved back to Youngstown to raise their children. Pat managed the family dental practice, working alongside her husband and father. She was member of the Mahoning Valley Polo Club, Youngstown Philharmonic, and was actively involved with the Children’s Playhouse. Her greatest joy was raising three girls. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who was vibrant, funny, threw a great party and loved color.
Surviving are her daughters, Ann Clinton Cavanaugh, Alexandra R. Cavanaugh, and Nancy Cavanaugh Andreano; grandchildren, Wood Cavanaugh Struthers, Alexandra Taylor Struthers, Thomas Malachi Andreano, and Jacqueline Patricia Andreano; great grandchildren, Robert Wood Struthers, Finnegan John Struthers, Saffron Rae Teck, and Willem Blaise Teck.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Ann.
A private service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio this summer.
