Paul C Belhorn

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Mr. Paul C. Belhorn, 69, of Granville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 785 Newark-Granville Road, Granville, with the Most Reverend Bishop Frederick F. Campbell as celebrant and Father G. Michael Gribble as homilist. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pataskala with military honors provided by Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Deacon Paul died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was born in Columbus to the late Leroy W. and Martha Louise (Thissen) Belhorn.

An Army National Guard veteran, Paul served as an officer in the Artillery Division. He also graduated from The Ohio State University and the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1983, Paul became Director of the New York office for the Comptroller of Currency. It was at that time he did his diaconate training and became a Deacon on May 1, 1990.

Paul's hobbies included the mastery of wood-working, traveling extensively the United States with his family, actively participating in the Boy Scouts, playing guitar, enjoying the outdoors, and remaining a true Buckeye fan. He will be remembered as a passionate person who was a wonderful teacher to his children and a committed deacon, even in the workplace, being referred to as 'deacon of the market place'.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Patricia M. (MacDougall) Belhorn of Granville; sons, Scott Belhorn and his wife, Quinn, of Cleveland, and Matthew Belhorn and his fiancAC., Cynthia Kuethe, of Cincinnati; daughters, Tara Khan and her husband, Faisal, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Elizabeth Belhorn of Granville; grandchildren, Sophia Khan and Morgan Belhorn; brother, Stephen Belhorn of Columbus; sister, Leanne Piolata of Buckeye Lake; and sister-in-law, Christine Belhorn of Reynoldsburg.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, William Belhorn.

His body will be received at the church at 1:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church on Thursday where a Vigil Service for Deacon Paul will be held at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME.
