Paul E. Swenson

A memorial service for Paul E. Swenson, 92, of Granville, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville, with the Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating.

Mr. Swenson died May 7, 2014 at Kendal at Granville. He was born June 25, 1921 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. to the late Arthur V. and Clara (White) Swenson.

During WWII, Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Bombsight Maintenance officer with the Mighty 8th, a B24 Bomb Group. Upon his return home, he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and a MBA, in marketing, from Case Western Reserve.

Paul's career in the steel industry included employment with Cutler Hammer, Republic Steel, as purchasing manager, and vice president of Keystone Metals. This journey led him to reside in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Steamboat Springs. Upon his retirement he moved to Granville.

A member of First Presbyterian Church, Paul also belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Granville and was involved with the library. He enjoyed family time, golfing, tennis, and snow skiing. Paul continued his hobbies of making stained glass, reading, crossword puzzles and his latest- playing Free Cell on his Droid.

Surviving are his children, Paula Swenson Morris, Jane Swenson Wine and Michael, and Robert and Dianna Swenson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Arvada.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Lois L. (Lynn) Swenson and three siblings.
