A memorial service for Peter L. Marshall, 83, of Granville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Peter, a retired aeronautical engineer at Rockwell and Boeing after 30 years of service, died February 21, 2008 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. He was born December 21, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles Lewis and Margaret (Godsol) Marshall.
During WWII, Peter served in the Pacific Theatre in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic and gunner on bombers. He was Mayor of Granville from 1995 to 1997 and served on Village Council from 1989 to 1997. Peter attended Centenary United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Granville Kiwanis Club, and Aces Luncheon Group.
Surviving are his wife, Adelyn M. (Kleeberger) Marshall whom he married December 24, 1987; sons and daughters-in-law, David B. and Barbara Marshall of Vancouver, Canada, John S. and Angela Marshall of Columbus, and Robert S. and Olena Marshall of Evanston, Ill; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. Marshall and Jon van Dommelen of Columbus; step-son, Richard H. Hanna of Gladstone, OR; step-daughter, Lyn S. Hanna of Nederland, CO; grandchildren, Brendan, Benjamin, Ella, Max, and Laura Marshall, and Emma and Bryn van Dommelen; and one sister, Jane Gottschall of Granville.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora "Flic" (Costin) Marshall who died in 1986; and his sister, Joyce.
