Phyllis Jean Mitchell

A funeral service celebrating the life of Phyllis Jean Mitchell, 74, of Newark will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 North 23rd St., Newark with Pastor Keith Sjostrand officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Jacksontown Cemetery.

Phyllis was born May 21, 1938, five minutes after her twin brother Phillip West of Newark, in West Virginia to the late Daisy (Persinger) West. She passed away in the loving care of Hospice of Central Ohio and her family on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Phyllis devoted her life around her family. She simply adored her great 'grandbabies' and appreciated each one of them as a special gift from God. She also loved animals, enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, and playing guitar.

She is survived by her children John (Christine) Brown of Newark, James (JoAnn) Brown of Newark, David Brown of Newark, Logan (Sandy) Brown of Heath, Evelyn (Richard) Campbell of Malta, and Diane Brown of Newark; brothers, Phillip West of Newark and Curtis West of Sandusky; sisters, Delores Jenkins of Sandusky, Lena New of Michigan, and Shirley Bango of Sandusky; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three grandsons, George, Richard, and Derek and one brother, Lawrence West.
