Priscilla Avery died Saturday, July 07, 2012 at home at Kendal at Granville. Her remains have joined her late husband's, Walter Avery (died February 5, 2007), at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
On July 17, 1924, Priscilla was born to the late Lucile (Lindahl) and Elmer Grismer in Cleveland OH. She grew up in Oak Park IL and attended Denison University (and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority) for a short time. Priscilla had a sense of adventure, taking various jobs - - among them: airline stewardess, office work for foreign service, and executive secretary. She married her beloved husband, Walter Avery in New York City in 1969. Priscilla and Walter moved to Granville in 2006 from Asheville, North Carolina. Prior to living in Asheville, they resided in London for over 20 years, and in New York City. Priscilla is fondly remembered for the wonderful gourmet meals she enjoyed preparing, the love of the arts, traveling internationally, and her playful spirit.
Surviving are her step-son and his wife, Dr. Charles and Barbara Avery of Oxnard, CA; step-daughter and her husband, Anne and Leslie Patrick of Sausalito, CA; nieces, Gail Ward and Susan Ward of Asheville, NC; nephew, Philip Ward; and family, of Rathdrum, ID.
