Raymond O. Sunkle, Jr.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Raymond O. Sunkle, Jr., 82, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Pastor Jeff Smith as celebrant.

An Air Force veteran, Ray passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. He was born in Granville in 1933 to the late Raymond O. and Margaret E. Sunkle where he attended Granville High School and would call home for his lifetime.

Ray was a former employee of Roper Corporation and was employed at Mound Builders Country Club where he was responsible for course maintenance. He also operated his own lawn care business. A meticulous and exact person with a great passion for golf, Ray also enjoyed his time spent in Port Orange, Florida with friends and family and was a dog aficionado.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Helen Cantrell Sunkle; brother, Robert Sunkle; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Robert Van Breeman; brother-in-law, Gary Cantrell and his wife, Margie; sisters-in-law, Mary Norton and Laura Richardson and her husband Marvin; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Walker.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 16th, after the graveside service, from 4 to 6 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home in Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
