Rhea D. (Braun) Philipps

A funeral service celebrating the life of Rhea D. Philipps, 96, of Granville, will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, with Pastor Casey Wilson and Pastor Cory Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow in Welsh Hills Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville, on Sunday, October 13th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Rhea was born in Marietta, Ohio on August 9, 1928 to the late Hugh V. and Vera Irene (Dobbins) Braun.  She passed away at her residence on October 4, 2024.

Rhea was a devoted homemaker to her family.  She was a volunteer at the Granville Thrift shop and was also a volunteer and coordinator at the American Red Cross, where she was a 19 gallon donor.  Rhea was a 50 year member of the Pythian Sisters; Welsh Hills Garden Club; and Granville Town and Country.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, making baby quilts, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Bud (Mary) Philipps, Becky Bush, Robin Lantz, Tim Philipps, Luann (Tony) Barsotti and Sara (Mike) Faller; brother, Ronald Brown; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Philipps; sons, Michael Philipps and David Philipps; an infant child; brother, Raynald Brown; sisters, Ruth Wagers and Roma Litzinger; grandson, Anthony Barsotti; two nieces and one nephew.

Donations may be made in memory of Rhea to the American Red Cross.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
