A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard McVay. Strott, 77, of Newark will be held at 3:00 P.M. on December 17, 2017 at Northside Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Rd., Newark with Rev. Frank Austin as celebrant. A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Washington Cemetery in Washington, Pennsylvania.
An Army veteran serving in Vietnam, Richard passed away November 12, 2017 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newark. He was born in Washington, Pennsylvania in 1940 to the late A.W.T. and Ruth (McVay) Strott.
Richard was a graduate of Washington High School and was employed by Kroger as an attendant. He was a passionate Steelers fan, model train collector, and a member of Northside Church of Christ.
Surviving are his sister, Leola Sheffler, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and special friend, Mary Beamer.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers.
