A memorial service celebrating the life of Rick Burgoon, 58, of Granville will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Thom Lamb as celebrant. Private interment will be held at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown.
A truck driver for Gummer Wholesale, Rick died Friday, November 25, 2011 at home. He was born March 10, 1953 in Newark to Ruth James Burgoon and the late Russell D. Burgoon. He was a 1971 graduate of Granville High School and Heath Vocational School where he studied auto mechanics.
An avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan, Rick enjoyed the outdoors whether it be attending Indy Races, hunting and fishing, or mowing the grass meticulously. Rick was a family man. He was a loving son who cared for his mother and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a great O.S.U. fan and showed sheep with 4-H for several years.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Gabe and Deanna Burgoon and Jeremy Burgoon both of Newark; grandchildren, Bradley, Miracle, and Andrew; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Dale Angus of Newark; special aunt, Lois Cujas; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 S. Prospect St.,Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
