Rita C. English

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita C. English, 76, of Newark, formerly of Granville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at The Church of Saint Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark-Granville Road, Granville, with Monsignor Paul P. Enke as celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newark.

Rita, a retired clerk from Ohio Power,  passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Arlington Care Center in Newark.  She was born March 24, 1932 in Newark to the late Jean C. and Catherine (Deime) Canale.

A loving aunt and sister, Rita was a 1952 graduate of St. Francis High School.  She was a member of The Church of Saint Edward the Confessor and the Ohio Power Retirees with whom she enjoyed traveling. Her favorite past-time was shopping.

Surviving are her brothers, Francis L. Canale of Summerfield, Fla; Jack C. (Margaret) Canale of New Smyrna Beach, Fla; Joseph R. and William M. Canale both of Newark; sister Marie Doneff of Newark; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. English, who died Sept. 30, 1979; brother, James Canale; and sister, Jean Ann Canale.

There will be no visitation at Rita's request. Arrangements are in the care of McPeek Funeral Home in Granville.
