Robert L. Green

Robert L. Green, a US Army and Air Force veteran and longtime resident of Granville, passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023. Bob, as he was known to friends and family, was born October 03, 1939 to James R. Green I and Ethel M. (Hartfield) Webb. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17. While stationed in Berlin Germany, Bob met his wife Ingeborg and was married in 1961. Later, as a Drill Sergeant in Fort Knox, Kentucky, he trained 23 platoons of men for combat before being honorably discharged in 1965. Several years later he enlisted in the US Air Force stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio, as a Staff Sergeant, Security Forces-Strategic Air Command.

After being honorably discharged, Bob was employed by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union local 189 in Columbus, Ohio as a pipefitter, retiring in 1999.

Bob was a strong-willed and outspoken individual. He was an avid reader since childhood, who enjoyed stamp collecting, woodworking, and target shooting.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg (Haseloff) Green, his parents, and three siblings. He's survived by his three daughters Christina (Scott) Paublos, Constance (Ray) Jones, and Suzen (Lawrence) Thurman; eight grandchildren Jeb (Barb) Gayheart, Jenni (Dustin) Bailey, Mindy (Nicholas) Kelley, Jocelyn (TJ) Hartshorn, Janay Meek, Shanae Gayheart, Nathan Rardon, and Allyson Thurman; nine great grandchildren Gavin Gayheart, Austin and Garrett Skinner, Julius, Aurora, and Violet Kelley, Crew Hartshorn, and Gabriella and Joseph Meek; and two siblings Susan Penick and Worley Webb Jr.

A Graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Maple Grove Cemetery, 350 E. Maple Street, Granville, 43023 with Military Honors.
