Robert R. Haubrich Ph.D May 4, 1923 - July 20, 2007
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Robert R. Haubrich, 84, of Granville.
Dr. Haubrich died July 20, 2007 at Kendal at Granville. He was born May 4, 1923 in Claremont, NH to the late Frederick W. and Marion A. (Rice) Haubrich.
Mr. Haubrich was Professor Emeritus of Biology at Denison University, Granville, Ohio, retiring in 1988 and held the Alumni Chair at Denison University from 1983-1989. He was a 1941 graduate of Stevens High School, Claremont, NH. He attended the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH; in 1949 he received his B.S. in Forestry and in 1952 received his M.S. in Zoology from Michigan State University, East Lansing. MI; and in 1957 he received his Ph.D in Biology from the University of Florida. Prior to beginning his career at Denison University in 1962, Robert had served as Assistant Professor of Biology at East Carolina University, Greenhill, NC and Assistant Professor of Biology at Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH. He also served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps.
Mr. Haubrich was a Fellow in The American Association for the Advancement of Science, a fellow and former Vice President of the Zoology Section of The Ohio Academy of Science; a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Sigma Xi, Mt. Washington Observatory, and Who's Who in Frontiers of Science and Technology, and was an Associate of The Marine Biology Laboratory located in Woods Hole, MA.
Surviving are his brothers, Frederick W. Haubrich of Bow, NH and Richard T. Haubrich of Claremont, NH; two nephews and one niece.
