Robert D. Lewis
Born April 7th, 1928 in Fort Pitt, PA to David and Anna Lewis. Robert had seven siblings: Mary, Ann, Edwin, David, Thelma, Owen, and Janice. He graduated from Scott Township High School in Glendale, PA and earned a scholarship to play football at Salem College where he graduated with a BA in Physical Education in 1951. He went on to earn his master’s degree at University of Pittsburgh in 1952.
Robert met his wife, Barbara, at Salem College. They married Dec 15, 1951, and have four children: Debra, Britt (Carley), Beth Ann and Bruce. They have 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family moved to Grove City in 1972 where Robert was a principal in Southwestern City School District until he retired in 1986.
As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was an elder who led two building expansions. He was also a Shriner and a 32nd degree Mason. Robert joined the GCKA as a soccer coach and member of the board. He served as President for 37 years and over saw the building of Murfin fields. As an entrepreneur, he owned and operated Windsong Village Assisted Living and three West Coast Video stores. In 1990-1991, Robert received the Service To Mankind award from the Grove City Sertoma Club. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surrounded by family, he passed away on Sunday, Sept 4th in Granville, Ohio.
