Robert N. Phillips

A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert N. Phillips, 79, of Alexandria, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian as celebrant. A graveside service will be held prior to the church service at 10:00 A.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with military honors.

A retired middle school English teacher, at Gahanna East Middle School, Bob passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018. He was born to the late William G. and Margaret Phillips, grew up in Granville at the family home and graduated from Granville High School in 1957.

Bob was a graduate of Oberlin College, earned his teaching certificate at The Ohio State University and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed raising Morgan horses, traveling, and was a voracious reader. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed his time spent with the Thursday morning men’s breakfast group. He will be remembered for his wit, humor, intellect, and faithfulness.

Surviving are his wife and best friend, Eleanor D. MacNealy Phillips; sister, Marilyn Phillips and her special friend, Ron Andrade; mother-in-law, Irma Miller and canine companion, Freddie.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
