Ruth E. Myers

Ruth Ellen Myers, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 13, 2022, at the too-young age of only 65 years old. Ruth courageously battled a very rare cancer for 19 months and spent her final days surrounded by her loving family, at Hospice of Central Ohio – LMH. Ruth was unequivocally the best mom you could ever ask for, a loyal and loving wife, “Gummy” to her beautiful grandchildren, and a dear friend to many.

Ruth was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. She entered the ARMY immediately after high school, where she met the love of her life, Steve. They built a beautiful life together, in Granville and in Heath. Ruth was a loving mother to Michele (Dustin Dose) and Ray; she truly cherished her time with them and they were always a priority in her life. Becoming a grandma, “Gummy,” was absolutely her greatest joy – this loss will leave a profound hole in the hearts of Abbi, Eli, and Olli.

Ruth was deeply committed to her work, as an Administrative Assistant for the State of Ohio Career Colleges & Schools Agency. Her coworkers became family over the years, not only to Ruth, but to all of us. Ruth was an advocate for her cancer support group, Kindred Spirits, and touched the lives of many that battled this awful disease. She was an active member of Spring Hills Baptist church and she loved the Lord. She was unconditionally loving, giving, and her zest for life was contagious.

Ruth first battled breast cancer in 2018 and was then diagnosed with Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma in March 2021. Ruth faced this aggressive cancer head-on, with 2 full rounds of chemotherapy, radiation to her pancreas and liver, targeted brain radiation, immunotherapy, and countless procedures and appointments at The James – OSU. She fought hard every step of the way, with the utmost grace and strength; she was admired by everyone that followed her journey.

A funeral service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Spring Hills Baptist Church, 1820 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Rev. Tom Pound as celebrant where it will be livestreamed at https://boxcast.tv/view/ruth-myers-celebration-of-life-service-suhy41yxzctvl8m9fjef . The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Following the service, a luncheon will be provided in Ruth’s honor by Big Apple Café, which was her most favorite place to eat- everyone is welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested that gifts be made to the Spring Hills Youth Group – she loved the impact this ministry has had on Abbi and her prayer is for it to continue to impact young people for generations.
