A memorial service celebrating the life of Saundra L. Bowling, 73, of Granville, will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating.
Sandy died March 19, 2012 at the Medical Center of Newark. She was born in Washington Court House on January 20, 1939 to the late Helen M. (Steiner) and H. Eugene Cook.
A graduate of Wilmington College, Sandy was an educator for 27 years. She taught elementary and preschool education and also did disability tutoring. She retired in 1996 from Licking Valley Schools where she was a special education teacher for 17 years.
Sandy was a member of O.E.A., N.E.A., and Lions Club. She was an avid reader of mysteries and cherished her time spent with grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, David E. Bowling, Ph.D., whom she married June 6, 1959; son and daughter-in-law, Brian David and Julie Bowling of Lebanon; daughter and son-in-law, Leslyn Lee and Robert Barrone of South Pasadena, California; grandchildren, Elyse and Rachel Bowling and Charles, Doran, and George Barrone; and brother, Marvin E. Cook of Washington C.H.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley E. Cook.
