Shawn David "Dave" Hoover

Shawn David "Dave" Hoover, age 60 --- son of Gloria and the late Damon Hoover, died Sunday October 5, 2014 in Mercy Hospital, Canton, Ohio. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 20. He has been in failing health this past year.

"Dave" as he was known by his GHS '72 classmates was an adventurer at heart. He "soloed" a plane at age 16. After graduation he accepted the invitation of family-friends, owners of Indian Wells Steak Lodge, to live with them in Ridgecrest, California. Shawn fell in love with the Mohave Desert town: blue skies for flying. Unlimited space for motorcycle riding. He enrolled in the community college while also learning operation of his hosts' Lodge. Within a year he was manager.

As MS symptoms increased --- lessening vision and mobility ---his life-style changed. A move to Bakersfield resulted in employment as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor. The passage of years took him to Spokane, Washington to be near his younger sister, Rosalie Hoover Raymond and her husband, Denny. His late 40's brought him back to Ohio.

He is survived by his mother, and his sister, Beth Hoover Clevidence, Morena, California; one niece, four nephews, six great-nieces and one great-nephew.
